Services and Honest Pricing
We believe families deserve clear prices before they make any decision. The figures below are our real starting prices, and we will give you our complete General Price List — as the FTC Funeral Rule provides — the moment you ask, by phone, in person, or before you tell us anything else.
Traditional Funeral Service
from $6,800
A complete traditional funeral: visitation with your loved one present, a ceremony in our chapel or your place of worship, hearse and procession, and our care of your loved one throughout. Casket and cemetery costs are itemized separately so you can see exactly where every dollar goes.
Memorial Service
from $3,900
A gathering to remember a life, held after burial or cremation, in our chapel or a place that mattered to your family — a church, a garden, a favorite hall. We handle the arrangements, printed programs, and a memorial display of photographs.
Direct Cremation
$1,995 complete
A simple, dignified cremation without a formal ceremony. The price is complete: transfer into our care, all required paperwork and permits, the crematory fee, and a simple urn. Many families add a memorial service later, on their own schedule, and we are glad to help when they do.
Graveside Service
from $4,200
A service held entirely at the cemetery, suited to families who prefer a brief, intimate farewell outdoors. Includes our coordination with the cemetery, transportation, and a graveside setup with seating and canopy.
Every family receives a written, itemized statement before any service is confirmed. We accept pre-need insurance, and we will help you file life-insurance assignments at no charge.
Pre-Planning, Without Pressure
Many of the families we serve tell us the same thing: the kindest gift their loved one left behind was a plan. Pre-planning records your wishes, sets prices in today's dollars if you choose to pre-fund, and spares your family from making difficult decisions on the hardest day of their lives.
Pre-planning consultations are always free, with no obligation and no follow-up calls unless you ask for them. We can meet at our office on North Alder Park Avenue or at your kitchen table — many people find the conversation easier at home. We accept pre-need insurance, and we will honor prearrangements made through other funeral homes if you bring us the paperwork.
To begin, call (614) 555-0136 and ask for a pre-planning appointment, or simply stop by during office hours. The conversation usually takes about an hour.
Three Generations of the Everdale Family
Everdale has been owned and run by one family since Harold and Ruth Everdale opened our doors on North Alder Park Avenue in 1958. When you call, you reach one of us.
Thomas Everdale
Owner & Funeral Director
Tom is the third generation of his family to care for Columbus families, licensed as a funeral director in Ohio since 1996. He grew up upstairs from the funeral home and still believes what his grandfather taught him: tell families the truth, including about price, and the rest takes care of itself.
Marisol Everdale-Reyes
Funeral Director & Pre-Planning Counselor
Marisol joined the family practice in 2008 and leads our pre-planning program. She has sat at hundreds of kitchen tables across Clintonville and the North Side, and she conducts arrangements in both English and Spanish.
Gene Park
Funeral Director & Aftercare Coordinator
Gene has been with Everdale for nineteen years — family in every way but name. He guides families through the weeks after a service: death certificates, Social Security and veterans' paperwork, and our monthly grief support gatherings.
Care That Continues After the Service
Grief does not end when the service does, and neither does our care. Every family we serve is welcome at no cost, for as long as it helps, to:
Monthly grief support gatherings — held the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in our community room, facilitated by a licensed grief counselor. No registration needed; come when you can.
One-on-one aftercare appointments — Gene Park helps with death certificates, insurance claims, Social Security and VA paperwork, and the practical tasks that pile up in the first weeks.
A lending library of grief resources — books for adults and children, available in our front sitting room during office hours. Borrow anything; return it whenever.
Annual service of remembrance — each December we host a candlelight evening for every family we have served, with music and the reading of names.
Questions Families Ask Us
What should I do first when a death occurs?
Call us at (614) 555-0136 at any hour, day or night. A member of our family answers the phone — not an answering service. We will guide you through each step from there, and nothing needs to be decided in that first call except allowing us to bring your loved one into our care.
How much does direct cremation cost?
Direct cremation costs $1,995 complete. That includes transfer into our care, all required paperwork and permits, the crematory fee, and a simple urn. There are no hidden charges.
How much does a traditional funeral cost?
A complete traditional funeral service begins at $6,800, including visitation, the ceremony, hearse, and our care of your loved one. Caskets and cemetery costs are itemized separately, and you receive our full General Price List before deciding anything.
Does pre-planning cost anything?
No. Pre-planning consultations are always free, with no obligation. We can meet in our office or in your home, and we accept and honor pre-need insurance policies.
Do you accept plans or insurance from other funeral homes?
Yes. We accept pre-need insurance and will honor prearrangements made elsewhere, including plans purchased through other funeral homes. Bring the paperwork and we will sort out the details at no charge.

Yes. A free private lot behind the building has 40 spaces and a level, step-free entrance. The chapel, restrooms, and arrangement rooms are all on one floor and fully wheelchair accessible.
